14-year-old Yusuke Urameshi finds himself dead, having died pushing a child out of their way of oncoming traffic, 1 day. Since he has a personality that was bad, even the Spirit World was caught by surprise that he would sacrifice himself. Yusuke soon discovers he wasn't supposed to die and offers a possibility of revival and bringing his body back to life. Yusuke becomes a Spirit Detective, along with his comrades, plus one experience after another happens, whether it be an evaluation or a championship after being hammered.
